Petroglyph Beach & Marine Turtle Experience

An Amazing tour to a Mexican Heritage site: Las Labradas Petroglyph Beach with a special visit to a marine turtle conservation program. The unique and little known art carved on the more than 200 weathered boulders at this beautiful beach was performed around 800 - 1100 AD. In these art forms you will see human, animal and geometric forms.

Cross the Tropic of Cancer just north of Mazatlan and into the 126,000 acre Meseta de Cacaxtla Natural Protected Area. This is the largest park in the entire state of Sinaloa and stretches form the beautiful coastline to the foothills of the Sierra Madre harboring a vast array of plant and animal species including hundreds of species of birds, as well as many reptiles and mammals including the jaguar.

Visit two rural communities within the reserve that are transforming their livelihood from fishing & logging to ecotourism. Learn how your visit contributes to this sustainable tourism initiative and conservation.

This Expedition Includes

Transportation in air conditioned vehicle, bilingual guide, entrance to the Cacaxtla Natural Protected Area, soft driks, continental breakfast and lunch. Time for strolling on the beach and bird watching.

What To Bring

Bring comfortable footwear to walk around the rock carvings on the beach (tennis shoes or sport sandals, not flip flops), a hat and sunblock and extra cash for purchasing home made pastries in the community and for tips.

Health Related

This is a low impact tour suitable to most people. Walking around the volcanic smooth volcanic rocks may be tricky. Low physical exertion involved.
