Recognition
Sendero Mexico has been recognized for its contribution in the establishment of the Tufted Jay Preserve, a 5000 hectare conservation easement in the Sierra Madre Occidental and for the organization of the Mazatlan Bird Festival.
Working with Pronatura Noroeste, the regional representation of Mexicos largest and most prestigious conservation organizations, we have been able to promote the cause of sustainable development in the highland logging community, create attractive and comfortable cabins with Mexican federal funds to attract international bird watchers and collaborate with American and Canadian conservation concerns.
The Cornell Lab of Ornithology considers the Tufted Jay Preserve, the highlight of the Mazatlan Durango Birding Corridor, one of the best in the world. The project was featured in the cover of Living Bird, their industry-leading magazine in the September & October 2009 issue.
